I have without any major disasters, completed my first year as Executive Director of Central Dental Society. I can even say I’ve enjoyed the entire year. In July I attended the American Dental Association’s contact program for executive directors of state and component societies. It was a wonderful experience. For two days, representatives of each division of the ADA spoke to us on how they can help the member dentist with just about anything we ask of them. If anyone has questions for the ADA, please contact me, depending on the question I have direct names of people to contact.

I would also like to say how much I’ve enjoyed meeting the members of our dental society, and other’s in the state. I attended the meeting on policy governance in St. Louis, held by the Missouri Dental Association; I also attended the ADA’s meeting in Kansas City. I strongly feel that I can help our members by learning everything possible about the association as a whole.

In the not to distant future, we will see dramatic changes in dentistry, especially if we choose to not have a strong voice in the actions of our government. This is why I urge each and every member of our society to attend Legislative Day. This will be my third year in attendance, and I have learned that the number of people in attendance makes as much of a statement as the words we say. Don’t wait until its to late to make your voice as a Dentist heard, if you don’t speak for yourself, someone else will speak for you, and it may not be someone with the same idea’s that we intended on.

I would also encourage everyone to attend the yearly speaker and annual meeting that Central Dental Society has in Columbia. As a final note, I want to thank the Board of Directors and Regional Officers for making the commitment to our society and helping to support our dental profession. Remember, We ensure the future of dentistry by the support we give today.
