Trustee's Message

Fall, 2001
I want to inform the members that the proposed new MDA
building is proceeding nicely. The new building will have
almost three times the space of our old building and with
the new location, will afford Executive Director Lippert
with much better access to the departments of State Government
he needs to work with. The extra space will also give MDA
some space to rent. After the old building is sold, MDA
will have little debt for the building project and a much
better situation.
We, on the Board of Trustees, are currently grappling with
the issue of Policy Governance. It is my understanding that
when all aspects of this are implemented, we will no longer
have an MDA President, Treasurer, or slate of officers, as
well as a House of Delegates. One trustee from each component
will direct the Executive Director as to policy; and he will
have reasonable latitude to get the job done. Also, most
committees will be eliminated. No firm understanding has
come from the Trustees yet, and input from all sources is
needed.
As always, I stand ready to discuss with you ideas you
have as to how MDA can better serve you, her members.
