...a colleague you need to know:Dr. Carl James, RollaDr. Carl James began practice in Rolla Missouri in 1954 after graduating from the University of Southern California. He pointed out that this was before the air turbine or the hi volume vacuum. He previously had served the United States Army in World War II. Dr. James has been active with organized dentistry through out his forty-seven years of practice. He has reminisced with this writer many times of his fond memories of Ms. Betty Satterfield and MDA at a time when one person was the entire administrative staff. Dr. James was most instrumental in helping to establish the Sheltered Workshop in Rolla in 1970. He also was the point man in the Ozark Dental Society's efforts to establish the now operational Hygiene School at RTC in Rolla. Without his efforts, there would be no Hygiene School in Rolla today. He was the campaign chair for the committee that placed fluoride in the Rolla Water System in 1958. He was a main contributor to the efforts to establish the 143 acre Missouri Churches Youth Camp on the shores of the Lake of the Ozarks. This has grown into a year around venture to aid youth. Carl James is regarded by his peers with great respect and 'wellness' has been a centerpiece of his caring general practice. His council has helped many patients with smoking ceasation. He has been part of volunteer groups who have supplied dentistry to the needy in Mexico. Dr. Carl James is the first peer dentist featured on the CDS web and is a colleague you need to know.
